MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Greetings to all!

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome each of you to the Iberville Parish Optional Education Center. This year will be filled with numerous activities that not only strengthen your child's academic needs; however they will also strengthen their character and personality. My main goal is success for all students, in every area. I will simply like to say that I can guarantee that your child will experience positive growth in his academic and social experiences.

Each student who is transferred to the Iberville Parish Optional Education Center must participate in a New Student Orientation with his parent and the principal. During this orientation, all of the procedures and guidelines that govern the Iberville Parish Optional Education Center will be reviewed and discussed. During this orientation it is discussed with EVERY student the benefit of actively participating in our MANDATORY morning Character Education assemblies, where each week a character trait is discussed. It is further discussed that in lieu of suspension, students will have an opportunity to participate in physical fitness drills and beautification community projects, with our newly appointed Drill Sergeant. In addition to academics and discipline being two of our main focuses, we have put in place an active School Resource Officer, whose main concern is safety on campus and addressing student attendance.

While our teachers are focusing on academics through the use of the Iberville Comprehensive Curriculum, character development is embraced. The Iberville Parish Optional Education Center embraces the district's 3-D vision. In efforts to mold students who can openly and eagerly DEVELOP, DISCOVER and DECLARE, the Iberville Parish Optional Education Center has academic achievement and character development at the top of its priorities.
