SCHOOL BOARD COMMITTEES

 

 

The President and Vice-President of the Iberville Parish School Board shall appoint membership to the three (3) standing committees created by the School Board (Finance, Buildings and Grounds, and Insurance).  Efforts should be made to rotate committees as best as possible.  The President shall serve as the ex-officio (non-voting) member of each committee.  The Superintendent shall serve as the educational advisor to all committees.

 

Each committee shall consist of three (3) members and shall have a quorum.  The respective members of each committee shall choose a chairman for each standing committee and other committee.  The School Board shall set the meeting days of these committees.

 

Also, there is created by the School Board President, an Executive Committee, which shall consist of three (3) members from within its membership.  Each School Board member shall rotate until each School Board member has served on the Executive Committee at least one time during his/her four-year term.  The School Board President shall be an ex-officio (non-voting) member.  It shall be called in meeting by its chairman for consideration of policies needing revisions as referred to it at the regular School Board meeting by a majority vote of the present members.  The Executive Committee shall consider revisions to identified policies and shall present a final suggestion of revisions for approval of the full School Board at its regularly scheduled meeting.

 

Ad hoc committees shall be created upon a majority vote of the School Board members present at the meeting or the President as needed.

 

A quorum shall be required for the transaction of official business at a meeting of a committee of the School Board, which shall consist of a majority of the members of the committee.  Any member of the School Board may, by prior agreement, substitute for a member of a committee of the School Board at a meeting of said committee.
