EMPLOYEE SAFETY POLICY

 

 

Employee accidents are undesirable, unplanned occurrences which can be prevented and which often result in bodily harm, loss of time, expensive legal action, property damage, needless cost, and personal pain and suffering.

 

In addition to the adverse effect of on the job accidents relative to the operation of our school system and the rising cost of workers' compensation insurance it is also a statutory requirement by the newly created office of Workers' Compensation Administration that all employers of fifteen (15) or more employees have on file a written policy which outlines specific provisions for the implementation of a working and operational safety plan.

 

It is the intent of the Iberville Parish School Board to take every reasonable precaution for the safety of employees, and, the Iberville Parish School Board does hereby direct the Superintendent to develop and implement an employee safety program which shall include:

 

(1)

Appointment of Safety Coordinator.

 

(2)

Establishment of Supervisory Safety Committee.

 

(3)

Assignment of specific safety responsibilities to supervisors and principals.

 

(4)

Establishment of procedures for investigation of each reported injury with appropriate follow up action by responsible supervisor and/or principal.

 

(5)

Establishment of regular safety inspections by responsible supervisor with correction, of hazards.

 

(6)

Promotion of planned safety training for all employees.

 

(7)

Promotion of safety awareness among all employees.
