ANNUAL LEAVE
12 MONTH EMPLOYEES
Annual leave is a benefit granted by the Iberville Parish School Board to employees to allow a respite from daily employment duties as personal, vacation, or recuperative time with pay. Annual leave is not considered an earned contractual right nor the equivalent of earned wages.
Annual leave shall be granted to all 12-month full time employees of the Iberville Parish School Board each fiscal year in accordance with the following schedule, which is based on years of employment with the Iberville Parish School Board. The number of annual leave days earned shall depend on the employee’s anniversary date of employment as follows:
|
Less than 10 years employment- |
10 days |
|
10-14 years employment- |
15 days |
|
15-24 years employment- |
20 days |
|
25 or more years employment- |
25 days |
Annual leave shall be granted on a pro-rated basis to employees who are not employed for the full year.
At the time of hire, certificated employees will be granted vacation according to the schedule above. Total years of service, both in and out of district, as a certificated employee shall be counted for the initial allocation of annual leave for that employee. The employee shall be frozen at the initial allocation of annual leave until the employee reaches the years of service in the district, at which time the employee shall receive additional annual leave according to the schedule above.
At the time of hire, non-certificated employees shall receive no more than ten (10) days of annual leave. No credit shall be given for years’ experience out of district.
In carrying out the intent of this policy it will be necessary to schedule all annual leave according to the employee's work schedule. Employees must secure approval from their immediate supervisor for all annual leave (vacation). The supervisor has the responsibility to approve or deny based on the workload at the requested time.
With the exception of annual leave taken for an entire calendar week at a time, employees shall not be allowed to schedule more than five (5) Mondays nor more than five (5) Fridays for annual leave during a calendar year.
Employees shall request leave in compliance with the following regulations:
No more than five (5) days of annual leave may be carried over from year to year.
Time will be counted and scheduled according to a calendar year.
Requests from personnel in various departments must be approved by their respective supervisor.
Each request will be considered and determined in order of submission and in accordance with work load and supervision.
Every effort should be made to avoid requesting time too close to the end of a calendar year as conditions may make it inconvenient and impossible to approve request and employee may lose annual leave time.
Any unused annual leave at the time of separation (termination, resignation, retirement, entrance into DROP, or death) shall be paid to the employee or his/her heirs on or before the next regular payday for the pay cycle during which the employee was working at the time of separation, or no later than fifteen (15) days following the date of separation, whichever occurs first, at the employee's daily rate of pay.
