GRADUATION EXERCISES

All high schools will hold only one graduation exercise per school year.  The date of graduation exercises shall be no earlier than the third Friday of May, and the last day of classes for seniors shall be no earlier than ten (10) days prior to the closing day of school for the year.  End of the year awards ceremonies for Academies must be scheduled so as to not conflict with graduation exercises at the high schools.  These dates shall be incorporated annually in the official school calendar.

Students finishing school at mid-term shall be granted the option of receiving their diploma at mid-term or participating in the end of the year graduation ceremony.  Students desiring to participate in the graduation ceremonies must notify the Principal prior to leaving school at mid-term and comply with all regulations outlined by the school relative to the graduation ceremony.

Students who, at the beginning of the senior year, have failed to meet the standardized assessment (LEAP 2025/EOC or JumpStart) graduation requirements as set forth by the Louisiana Department of Education shall receive a formal letter signed by the Superintendent notifying the student and parent that they shall not participate in graduation exercises unless all graduation requirements are met prior to graduation commencement ceremonies.  This policy provision shall be strictly enforced by all schools in the system.

EXPELLED STUDENTS

Graduating senior students who have been expelled to the District Alternative Program at any time during the Spring Semester shall not be permitted to participate in graduation exercises at the zoned school.  The Alternative Program for students may conduct commencement exercises for those seniors who complete graduation requirements.
